Field report

How the site changed

From the initial site condition to a clean handoff for the next phase.

Before work

Starting point

The old pool shell and broad concrete apron divided the yard and showed extensive cracking. Because permanent landscaping was planned for the area, the scope required full shell removal rather than a partial fill that would leave buried concrete below grade.

On site

Work completed

The deck was saw-cut away from the surfaces that remained, then broken with compact equipment. Reinforcing steel was separated from the concrete, the shell was removed in manageable sections, and recyclable aggregate was kept out of the mixed debris stream.

Clean handoff

Result

With the shell out, clean fill was installed and compacted in stages instead of being dumped all at once. The finished area was rough-graded as one continuous yard, giving the next contractor a predictable base for the planned outdoor work.

Local planning notes

Scope first

Pool removal planning starts with the shell type, access width, nearby structures and the intended use of the yard. Full removal and partial removal are materially different scopes, so the quote should state what leaves the property, what fill is used and how compaction will be handled.

Local conditions

Richmond Hill projects often combine mature landscaping with narrow residential access. Equipment size, debris staging and the surfaces that must remain should be established at the quote stage, along with any municipal requirements that apply to the property.

Permit and approval requirements depend on the property and scope. Confirm them with the appropriate municipality or project professional before work begins.
