Whole or cut up: getting it out of a Toronto yard
A full-size hot tub is about 7 to 8 feet across and weighs several hundred pounds. Most Toronto side gates are around 3 feet wide, and many backyards are reached only by a narrow passage between houses or a laneway behind the garage.
Where the path allows, we tip the tub onto a dolly and carry it out whole. It is the fastest and cheapest way. Where it will not fit, we cut the shell into sections in the yard with a saw, take the cabinet and frame apart, and carry the pieces out. That takes longer, which is why the price is higher. Photos of the tub and the route out are the first thing we ask for.
Electrical comes first
Most hot tubs run on a hardwired circuit. A licensed electrician has to disconnect and cap it before anyone touches the tub. We do not do electrical work. We coordinate the timing with your electrician so the power is off and made safe before the crew arrives.
The tub is also drained before it moves. The water goes onto your own lawn at a slow rate or to the sanitary sewer, depending on the volume and the chemistry. It does not go to a neighbour, the street or a storm drain. We go over the plan at the quote.
Built-in tubs and decks
Plenty of tubs are sunk into a deck or surrounded by a platform. In that case we take the deck apart around the tub, lift the tub out, and clear the deck material in the same visit. If you want the deck kept, tell us at the quote. Sometimes the framing can stay for a carpenter to finish.
If your plan includes taking out the whole deck and fence, see deck and fence removal. An in-ground or sunken tub is closer to a small pool job, because the shell and surrounding concrete or stone all come out.
Where the pieces go
Everything leaves with us the same visit. The shell, frame, pump, heater and cover are sorted so metal, wood and plastic go where they can be recycled, and the rest is taken to a licensed facility. A hot tub is not something to leave at the curb, and it will not be collected as regular garbage.
We do not leave a pile on your property or a mess in the lane. The spot is swept and left clear. If you are also clearing out a pool, see above-ground pool removal.
Across the city
We remove hot tubs across Toronto from our Thornhill base, in downtown semis, east-end bungalows and North York backyards alike. Send photos of the tub and the route out and we will price it in writing. See our Toronto service area page for more.

Hot Tub Removal in Toronto FAQs
How much does hot tub removal cost in Toronto?
Most removals run $400–$800 when the tub can be carried out whole. If access is tight and the tub has to be cut up first, expect about $700–$1,200. A tub built into a deck, with the deck coming down too, typically runs $1,000–$2,500.
Do you disconnect the electrical?
No. A licensed electrician must disconnect and cap the hardwired circuit before we touch the tub. We coordinate the timing with your electrician so the circuit is safe when we arrive.
Will the tub fit through my side gate?
Often not. A standard gate is about 3 feet wide and most tubs are 7 to 8 feet across. A tub that cannot get out whole is cut into sections in the yard. That is why access is the main thing we ask about.
What happens to the water?
The tub is drained before it moves. The water goes onto your own lawn slowly or to the sanitary sewer. It does not go into a neighbour's yard, the street or a storm drain.
Can you remove a tub that is built into a deck?
Yes. We take the deck apart around it, lift the tub out and clear the material in the same visit. See hot tub removal for the full price table.
Can I just put it out at the curb?
No. A hot tub is not collected with regular garbage and leaving it on the street can bring a bylaw complaint. We haul it away the same visit.
